The first person to reach Super Saiyajin was Son Goku. Enraged by the death of Kuririn, Goku turned Super Saiyajin when he was fighting Freeza and defeated him. To achieve the level of Super Saiyajin, a person must have enough anger or revenge to push them over the limits. Once the level of Super Saiyajin is reached, that person has the ability to turn Super Saiyajin at any time. When Super Saiyajin, the hair turns gold and sticks up, the eyes turn green and a gold energy field surrounds the person.

Super Saiyajin 2

First to reach this stage was Son Gohan. The death of Android 16 and the near fatal injuries of his friends caused Gohan to go Super Saiyajiin 2 against Cell. This level of Super Saiyajin is also obtained by great amount of anger. The person must go over the limit to reach Super Saiyajin 2. When Super Saiyajin 2, the person has gold hair that sticks up and one strand of hair that hangs in front of the face. Eyes turn green and an energy field surrounds the person.

Super Saiyajin 3

Once again Son Goku is the first person to reach this powerful level of Super Saiyajin. We first saw that he had this great power when he showed Buu the transformation from SSJ to SSJ2 to SSJ3. This level of Super Saiyajin is far more powerful than any other stage but it is much harder to reach. When Super Saiyajin 3, all hair on the body goes to the head giving the person long golden hair. The eyes turn blue and their is a gold energy field around body.

Super Saiyajin 4

The highest level of Super Saiyajin ever reached. Only Son Goku and Vegeta have reached this level. Super Saiyajin 4 is only reached by the strongest and when it is the person is extremely powerful, much more than SSJ3. However, in order to obtain this stage, the person must transform from oozaru back into a Saiyajin. When Super Saiyajin 4, the hair is black and red fur covers all of the body except the chest. Eyes turn greenish-yellow and the person grows a tail.
