I am very sorry folks for the major lack of updates this past week. My cable modem has not been working properly for about or week or so and it's been offline a lot so I haven't been able to update at all. But it seems like it's been working all day yesterday and today so it might be back for good. I'll continue working on the site today and tomorrow.

- Introduction - |
Dragonball began as a gag/adventure manga by Akira Toriyama in the early 1980's. It became popular fast and was featured in the magazine "Shonen Jump." It grew into one of the most popular manga series throughout Japan. The story was based on an old Chinese legend about a Monkey Boy. In Dragonball, the Monkey Boy was known to be called Son Goku. The folk tale also told of a three-eyed god named Tenshinhan and a desert bandit named Yamcha. The story of Dragonball followed the adventures of Son Goku, in his quest to find the seven mystical dragonballs. Legend had it that if all seven dragonballs were collected, a dragon would be summoned and would grant any wish. While Toriyama continued to work on his manga, Dragonball turned into a television series and became a huge hit. The first episode aired in Japan on February 16, 1986. After 153 episodes and three movies, a new TV series called "Dragonball Z" was born. Although the anime title of the new series was "Dragonball Z" the manga title remained "Dragonball."
